After a four year campaign BIFA has won its campaign on insurance mediation. In consultaion with the European Commission HM Treasury officals now agree that marine insurance provided by freight forwarders under a marine open cover policy does not fall within the definition of insurance mediation. BIFA Director General Colin Beaumont made the following comment " My thanks, and indeed the thanks of all Members, must go primarily to Ron Willis, Chairman of our Legal and Insurance Policy Group, who worked tirelessly to help persuade ministers and officals to accept the Association’s arguments.
