A new air-freight route has started between Urumqi, the capital of northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and Bournemouth in England. The cargo service will operate four round trips weekly, with each journey taking approximately 10 hours, according to the Urumqi Diwopu International Airport.

These routes are particularly important for Xinjiang. They will facilitate the import of goods such as clothing, shoes, and boots, which are among the key items transported through these services.

This service is one of several international freight routes recently opened by Urumqi airport. In total, eight routes have been established, connecting Urumqi with destinations in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Hungary, and now Britain, according to Chinese media reports.
