Dutch exports to Russia fell significantly last year but rose to several neighbouring countries, according to figures from national statistics agency CBS. Direct exports to Russia dropped in value from €2.9 billion in 2021 to €1.7 billion in 2022, following the invasion of Ukraine in February that year and the imposition of sanctions.
The export sale of vehicles, machinery and spare parts, medicines, and flowers and plants has fallen sharply; sanctions put paid to the export of machinery, technology and luxury items such as yachts.
