The landmark Piccadilly store Fortnum & Mason aims to resume exports to Europe in summer 2023.
The luxury department store experienced customs difficulties post Brexit and is now in the process of opening its own warehouse and infrastructure network in Europe.
In March 2021, the store ended exports of its biscuits, jams, and hampers due to customs complexities related to Brexit.
At the time, exports to Europe accounted for roughly 5% of total revenue.
“It’s easier to export food business to business, than it is business to customer. Essentially, we will export to ourselves and then sell to customers from there.” said the CEO.
