The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) in India said imports of COVID vaccines, if imported into India by central government or state governments, would be exempt from customs duty from January 14, 2023, until March 31, 2023.
COVID-19 vaccines were first exexmpted from from 10 percent import customs duty in April 2021. The exemption was extended several times till June 2022.
Because new variants of Covid 19 arecausing a significant rise in daily caseload in some countries, including neighbouring China, the government has re-introduced certain precautionary measures.
