Baby formula imports to the USA are expected to be subject to tariffs again in the new year, once exemptions which were implemented amid a nationwide shortage have expired.
The shortage – which began due to pandemic-induced supply chain issues – worsened in February when the biggest US supplier recalled some products and closed a manufacturing plant after reports of bacterial infections.
US health regulators therefore relaxed import policies.
