UK imports of fresh and frozen beef in July fell by 9.1% on June levels, and 2,600 tonnes (13%) down on imports for July last year.
Between January and July, the UK imported 134,500 tonnes of fresh and frozen beef, 10% up on the same period in 2021. Imports have increased substantially from Germany, it 7% of total imports so far this year. Historically, Germany has supplied between 2-5% of UK beef imports.
Imports from the Netherlands have been on a downward trend since late 2021, despite still being up 7% year-on-year.
