South Korea’s wine imports reached a high in 2020 as more people enjoyed drinking at home due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
S Korea’s imports were valued at US$330 million last year, up 27.3 percent from a year earlier, according to the data by the Korea Customs Service.
Wine imports exceeded those of beer, which fell 19.2 percent on-year to $227 million.
The customs office said that wine imports soared last year because people preferred drinking at home. Beer imports fell as imports of Japanese products tumbled and homegrown craft beer gained popularity among drinkers.
