Imports of champagne into New Zealand continue to be hampered by Covid-19; winemakers warn the situation could soon get worse for vino drinkers.

The champagne shortage was first reported in January, when supply was affected by shipping delays and port congestion.
Ongoing shipping problems due to the pandemic are still affecting imports of some popular champagne brands.

“There are very well-known challenges with sea freight around the world at the moment – including the availability of shipping containers globally, space on ships and congestion at overseas ports – which is limiting our supply of a couple of much-loved champagne brands.” said a spokeswoman.
