The face mask industry could be “game-changing” for New Zealand’s wool exports, as a NZ company is already using specialist-breed New Zealand Astino wool as the main ingredient in a vast range of air filtration applications.
The air filtration products were created before Covid-19 changed everything; the business is based on products to improve air quality and provide respiratory protection.
Calculations suggested that the company could make a big difference to wool exports. The global pandemic means that the numbers are significantly larger.
Covid-19 means it was now difficult to predict how many face masks would be needed internationally for the next couple of years.
