USA importers are having to book earlier with shipping lines and are finding it difficult to get space on ships.

US imports via seafreight from Asia in June were 9.5% higher than in May, led by traffic from China, which increased by 14% over May. The port of Oakland reported an unexpected rise of 1.2% in imports for June.

Ships arriving in US ports recently have been very full, causing some delays in unloading.
