For herb growers in Kenya heavy rains – as have been experienced recently – often mean a year of solid profits.

The thriving horticultural sector has become a major driver of Kenya’s export revenue.

But measures put in place to control the spread of Covic-19 have led international import buyers to cancel orders and brought Kenya’s exports to a standstill for over a month.

Kenya’s herb farmers, export most of their produce, for example, some of them export 99% of a harvest overseas.

A few of the counties of Kenya are in partial lockdown to curb COVID-19, while the whole country is on a dawn-to-dusk curfew.
