Exporters in India said that lack of availability of quality grapes had resulted in a fall in exports.

January was slow for the export of grapes, and overall exports from the country fell. As compared to the 600 containers (each with 22 tonnes of grapes) exported by the end of January last year, this year, only 400 were exported. Exporters said unavailability of quality produce had resulted in this dip.

Last September, the vineyards of Nashik experienced heavy destruction by rain.
