China has introduced several reforms to make its car industry more accessible and boost exports.

There are no limits on companies making fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles since 2018.

Restrictions on foreign ownership of local firms will be lifted by 2022; foreign carmakers were previously required to set up a 50/50 joint venture with a local firm.

Low tariffs included in free trade agreements will also help to boost exports.
