The Ecuadorian mango export season started more slowly than normal, but total export volumes this year should be eventually similar to the previous year.
An industry spokesman said they had so far shipped almost one million boxes fewer than last year because of “prolonged winter rains”.
This may delay the season by around two weeks.
Volumes should increase towards the end of October or the first week of November.
Overall, the industry expects total exports will be on par with the 2018-19 season.
