Rumours are that China wants to increase imports of pork from overseas, including the U.S. and European Union. The government in China is increasingly concerned about soaring prices.
Beijing may be attempting to ease trade tensions with Washington by resuming imports of U.S. farm goods before trade talks in the next few weeks.
