Imports of Japanese beer into South Korea fell by 45% in July from the previous month. Korean consumers boycotted the product provoked by an escalating political and economic dispute between the two Asian countries.
This is good news for other importers and South Korean brewers. Japanese exporters say that the boycott is affecting sales.
Japan shipped $4.3 million worth of beer to South Korea in July. This was a reduction from $6.6 million the previous year.
