The current South African government is planning to achieve export-led growth in agriculture and has identified avocados as a key factor. Advisers are encouraging the country to follow Kenya’s path by driving exports of avocados to China.
The output of avocados is increasing, and the Agricultural Business Chamber said:
“Not many agricultural sub-sectors are a testimony to the export-led growth ambition that the South African government is currently focusing on, such as avocados,”
