The import of fruits and vegetables to Spain in January 2019 grew by 11% in terms of volume and by 26% in terms of value compared to the same month of 2018.
Vegetable imports increased the most strongly, with 12% more in terms of volume and 36% in terms of value; potatoes were the most purchased crop.
Fruit imports grew by 11% in terms of volume and by 20% in terms of value, covering a wide range of products, such as bananas, with 32,678 tons (+14.5%), apples, with 14,229 tons (+1%), pineapples, with 12,467 tons (-8%), kiwifruit, with 8,842 tons (-18%) or table grapes, with 6,245 tons (+30%).
