The commerce ministry of India has called a meeting of stakeholders, including export promotion councils, on April 5 to discuss ways to increase exports to China.
Participants would include officials from the agriculture ministry, Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority, and representatives from export promotion councils.
An increase in exports to China would help India as it has huge trade deficit with China. The deficit with increased to $63.12 billion in 2017-18 from $51.11 billion in 2016-17. The government is adopting several measures to promote shipments to China. It has recently managed to export agricultural goods such as non-basmati rice to China.
