Export earnings of tobacco from Zimbabwe closed 2018 at $892 million from 184,1 million kg exported to different parts of the world.
Last year’s crop was exported at an average price of $4,85 a kg. In 2017, the country exported 182,4 million kg .
Data indicates that China, which is the major consumer of the flue-cured tobacco from Zimbabwe, last year imported 59,1 million kg of the golden leaf. In 2017, China imported 60,8 million kg of tobacco.
