Export sales from businesses in Northern Ireland to customers in the Republic increased by £540 million last year to £3.9 billion.
While exports to the Republic of Ireland increased by 16.2 per cent, sales by Northern firms to customers in Britain fell by more than 20 per cent during 2017. The statistics come from a new report from the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA).
Its latest report shows exports from Northern Ireland to the EU, excluding the Republic, fell by £269 million to £2 billion, while exports to the rest of the world increased by £195 million to £4.3 billion.
