A third-quarter 2016 recovery in exports of plastics and rubber machinery by Italian machine makers helped improve sales.
In the nine months from January to September 2016, imports of machinery to Italy increased by 8.5 percent. Exports climbed by 1.5 percent, said trade body Assocomaplast. The improvement in Italian foreign trade was particularly welcome after a fall in exports was reported in the first six months of 2016.
βIn particular, the recovery in exports β which historically represent a significant share of national production β is an important signal for Italian manufacturers, after the negative performance that had characterized previous months,β said Assocomaplast president Alessandro Grassi.
