With an increase of 0.6% to a total of 904,200 m³, Swedish exports of softwood lumber and planed products in December 2015 were only slightly higher than the previous year.
Exports to buyers within Europe were raised by roughly 13% to 442,200 m³, but imports into Africa fell 7.4% short of the previous year’s figure at 302,300 m³. Exports to Asia were 9% down at 145,500 m³.
In terms of the different assortments, the latest statistics produced by Skogsindustrierna for December show a 9.7% reduction in the exports of rough-sawn spruce lumber to 208,300 m³. Rough-sawn pine and planed products revealed growth of 5.4% and 1.8% respectively to 431,600 m³ and 263,100 m³.
