Australia’s top five export destinations held their places in the last financial year, with the United Kingdom remaining in the top spot.
Record grape harvests in the United States have seen demand for wine imports drop significantly, reflected in the the 28 per cent drop in bulk wine exports to the USA.
The same effect wasn’t seen north of the border, with exports to Canada growing strongly because of strong demand for bulk wine from Quebec supermarkets.
An austerity drive in China, which saw a crackdown on the purchase of luxury goods, combined with lower consumer confidence is being pegged as the reason behind the drop off in Chinese exports.
