The State Railways of India carried 677.56 million tonnes of revenue earning freight traffic from April 1 to November 30. The freight tonnage shows an increase of 30.55 million tonnes over the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 4.72 per cent.

During November 2013, the revenue-earning freight traffic carried by Indian Railways was 84.31 million tonnes, which is an increase of 2.56 million tonnes over the freight traffic of 81.75 million tonnes carried by railways during the same period last year.
