On 24 December, Pakistan Railways initiate the service of five freight trains from Karachi.
The Railways spokesperson said that introducing of new trains in freight sector was a big achievement which would be helpful in generating more revenue.
A few months before, the Railways minister Khawaja Saad Rafique had hinted that the government wished to increase the freight traffic of the Railways. “The Pakistan Railways will now focus on the freight sector by strengthening the existing links and opening up new ones,” said the Railways minister. ‘The Railways have earned 75 per cent more revenue in freight sector than expected.’
