The equivalent of approximately 12500 freight truckloads per year is transported to Northern Norway by train. The freight train travels from Alnabru in Oslo to Narvik in the north via Kiruna in Sweden. This takes about 26 hours, which is much faster than freight by road. From February a new truck connection will run from Kiruna to Finnmark in North Norway, which should help export companies in the seafood market. The new connection will reduce transit times by more than a day.
