The British International Freight Association has welcomed the approval by IATA and FIATA of the standard for the multilateral electronic air waybill. The new bill will make numbers bilateral agreements between airlines and freight forwarders unnecessary. If airlines and freight forwarders sign once with IATA, they will in effect enter into e-waybill agreements with all other parties to the agreement. BIFA’s Director General said that this provide the legal framework to conclude air cargo contracts by electronic means.
