A new intermodal freight and logistics terminal on the river Tees has begun its first phase of operation.  The terminal has a direct link to the East Coast main line, and also with existing freight facilities, including a railhead, North Sea supply base and wharf quays on the river.  The Regional Growth Fund contributed £1.2 m towards the development. Extra land has been purchased to enable the expansion of container facilities.
