The Department of Finance and Ministry of Taxation in Denmark are developing a system to charge freight vehicles a levy for using the roads.  The plan is to charge 1.50 Danish Krone per km travelled by registered trucks. Haulage and logistics companies fear the levy will reduce profitability, while local councils expect the levy to drive more freight on to the railways, thus depriving the councils of their local toll revenues.
