The Rail Freight Group in the UK is questioning why rail freight services will be charged an additional 750 Euros security surcharge in France.  Freight lorries, which so far have been the cause of all four fires in the Channel Tunnel since it opened, will not have to pay such a charge.  It is considered especially unfair because when the tunnel is closed because of an accident, rail freight does not have any alternative, while trucks can use ferries.
