A strike by tanker drivers will apparently elicit little support from the rest of the freight industry.  The Freight Transport Association viewed the decision to take industrial action as ‘disappointing’, as it will restrict supplies of fuel to the haulage industry and add to already difficult conditions.  According to the FTA, tanker drivers enjoy amongst the best working terms and conditions in the haulage industry.

Some freight forwarding and haulage representatives say that tanker drivers’  wages are approximately double those of other drivers.
