The British International Freight Association has welcomed government proposals to introduce some form of road charging for freight vehicles.  UK based hauliers have to pay road charges for various tolls when operating in Europe, whilst overseas hauliers do not have to contribute to the upkeep of the roads which they use in the UK.

The user charge would be levied on all logistics and freight trucks, but UK operators will be able to claim the money back against their road tax.
