This month sees the opening of a new 41 000 square metre logistics centre in Wiel am Rhein in south Germany.  30,000 EURO pallets can be stored at the same time and 18,000 square metres of floor space is available for storing small freight. There are 35 loading bays.

60% of the space has already been contracted; some of the customers produce organic wine or outdoor sports clothing, whereas others are in the food, pharmaceutical, engine and solar panel sectors.

In 2010 the existing Weil am Rhein terminal handled 25,000 TEU. Seven operators offer 24 inland shipping services between Weil and Rotterdam weekly.

I now understand from your import department that it is because you contact my clients to advise them of the impending delivery and to find out their opening times and to ensure that they have equipment onsite to offload. This is superb, it saves me a great deal of work and just as important is the fact that my clients receive their cargo when they are able to take delivery and hire in equipment to offload if necessary. This saves me wasted journey charges for failed deliveries. A lot of forwarders do not do this, they just get an import job & deliver it without contacting the end receiver.
