Several container line shipping companies are being investigated by the European Commission to investigate whether they have breached anti-trust rules. The Commission thinks that the companies – who have not been named – may have violated anti-trust rules prohibiting restrictive business practices. Since 2009 the companies have been announcing price increase intentions in advance of the implementation.  This may allow them to signal price changes to each other which may harem competition in the container liner shipping services to and from Europe.
