The Department for Transport has agreed to supply an additional £500 million to support industry and consumers in switching to low-carbon technology. The Freight Transport Association welcomed the funding in principle, but commented that the freight sector had been neglected, as funding was mainly directed towards cars and vans. The freight industry needs more funding for HGVs and the provision of infrastructure for lower carbon fuels such as gas and biomethane.
