The government of Jamaica is planning to develop a global logistics hub, with the help of investment from Kuwait and Dubai.  The development will include increasing container throughput at the port of Kingston, and building commodity ports to handle petroleum products, coal, minerals and grain. It is planned to build a freight airport and large scale dry docks for ship repairs.
