The captain and crew of a vessel owned by a Finnish shipping line were under investigation last week by Finland’s customs authority. A shipment of military cargo destined for Syria was found to have no export licence.  No official export documents either from Russia or Finland, could be supplied by the crew to show that the cargo had export permits. Export of military equipment from Finland to Syria is prohibited by order of the European Council.
