Wine producers face export uncertainty due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Russia took approximately 1.8% of South African wine exports in 2021. Covid-19 had already caused a drop in exports to Russia. However a total of 6.9 million litres of wine was exported from SA to Russia. The total value of exports to Russia in 2021 was 207 million Rand.

Some SA producers are putting consignments which were due for export to Ukraine or Russia on hold pending developments in the area.
