Exports and imports for Japan rose to record levels in December, due to higher energy prices and rising demand for automobiles.

Exports from Japan in the recording period leaped 17.5 percent year on year to 7.9 trillion yen (69.01 billion U.S. dollars),the 10th consecutive month of increase. Imports increased for an 11th successive month by 41.1 percent.
