Last month HMRC found 1.5 tonnes of compressed cannabis in tape-wrappred packages within boxes of vegetables which were exported from Accra. The mastermind behind the smuggling operation has been arrested in Ghana, but his accomplice, a freight forwarder, managed to escape although his bank accounts have been frozen.
