Cargo carrying shipping lines are planning to reduce capacity on the Asia to Europe routes. September onwards should be the busiest time of year, but with volumes still falling carriers have so far been unable to increase freight rates as they wished.

To stop freight rates falling further, carriers are intending to blank out sailings and therefore reduce capacity in attempt to drive up prices.
