Business leaders in Peterborough are taking action in an endeavour to increase the amount of goods and services city firms export. Currently, the value of exports from Peterborough companies is rising – recent figures showed that across the county it has outstripped the national average.

A joint bid is now being made by the city’s regeneration company Opportunity Peterborough, Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) and UK Trade and Investment to build on that success. According to statistics from the Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce, exports from the county have risen by 10 per cent in contrast to a national average rise of 1.5 per cent.

In just one month, the chamber, which processes export documents for firms, handled documentation for £39.7 million worth of exports.

Now Opportunity Peterborough with the Enterprise Europe Network and UK Trade and Investment will deliver a vital workshop on international trade and export; the free event will take place on March 5 at the Eco Innovation Centre, in City Road, Peterborough, and will be presented by Steve Exon, an export consultant who will provide an insight into international trade.
