The volatility of freight rates from Asia to the West have been intimidating businesses as they try to predict how much their import shipping will cost.  This has been causing difficulties in the relationships between freight forwarders and importers, some of whom are choosing to buy their goods elsewhere. Importers do not expect the increases, and can blame the freight forwarder, who is unable to predict freight rates in advance.
