Exporters of carpets in Pakistan have urged the government to provide them with dedicated freight flights, to overcome existing difficulties with shipments.
The Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association said that the biggest problem the carpet industry is facing is transporting the goods. Bookings are cancelled and air freight is not available.
The government should provide dedicated freight flights, the association’s members said at a meeting with the president of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).
Delegates said that carpet is the only major handicrafts commodity which is exported from Pakistan.
Other products should also be helped and marketed to increase the handicrafts exports.
