Māori businesses in New Zealand have gone from their best year of export sales on record to their worst year.

Statistics NZ show that Māori authorities exported $741 million worth of products last year,a new record high. Covid-19 put unprecedented strain on the global market, and that figure is expected to take a dramatic turn.

Export sales have climbed every year since 2015.

The Iwi Collective Partnership represents 20 iwi-owned fisheries companies;its general manager Maru Samuels said Māori authorities are expecting to see the upward trend take a massive nose dive.
