Garment and textile exports from Vietnam in April fell 20 percent year-on-year and could fall further, as importers cancel orders because of Covid-19 pandemic impacts.
Data showed that garment and textile exports in the first four months fell 6.6 percent year-on-year. Material imports in the period fell 3 percent to $5.2 billion.
More depressing figures were expected, as most of the canceled and delayed contracts were for May and June.

Exports of clothes, fibre and garments in the first four months fell by between 6 to 22 percent year-on-year, which is the lowest fall ever seen.
