Net gold imports to China via Hong Kong in December increased to 41.361 tonnes from the previous month, Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department data showed.
China is the world’s top consumer of gold, and imported only 3.052 tonnes in November.
The Hong Kong data probably does not provide a complete picture of Chinese gold imports, as it is also imported via Shanghai and Beijing.
