Although exports from Japan fell in December from a year earlier, shipments to China rose for the first time in 10 months.

Exports reduced by 6.3% on year in December, a decline for the 13th consecutive month, according to data released by the Ministry of Finance.

The decline in exports was more than the 5.2% contraction which was forecast.
